On this show four great albums and some other fantastic music  in between

Wayne Wallace delivers dazzling  new compositions and classic jazz standards uses the expanded sonic palette of an orchestra to highlight the strengths of his
core conjunto. Underneath it all is an effortlessly instructive survey of Latin rhythms, from the familiar to the arcane, that reflect Wallace’s lifelong study of these sounds

The Webber/Morris Big Band is an ensemble of eighteen stellar New York improvisers.  While the band’s instrumentation  may be seen as typical, the music is rooted in minimalism, noise, pop, and the sounds of today. Integrating improvisation and composed material in unorthodox ways the traditional big band sound mutates into something unpredictable and exciting.

Alex Massa’s Bandcamp released mini-album is the first in a series of  “Adventures” with other musicians with no specific agenda other than the act of creation itself.

A greatly in-demand Brazilian drummer who has been in the U.S. for over 30 years, Vanderlei Pereira’s mastery of rhythms, superb technique, and versatility have uplifted a countless number of sessions. I am featuring the recording debut of his group, Blindfold Test, and it features fresh material, rich melodies, infectious rhythms, colorful solos, and a very attractive group sound
