All new music this week with releases from:

Arturo O’Farrill The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra –   their latest recording and the first album in his famed recording catalog to exclusively include all originally written compositions. Weaving together empowering messages for the times, the album portrays the pioneering pianist as outspoken as ever on the obligation of artists to speak truth to the great injustices occurring across the globe.

Daniel Carter, Patrick Holmes, Matthew Putman – a remarkable trio session from members of the Telepathic Band.

Matty Stecks & Musical Tramps – With his first double album effort, Matt Steckler has created something eclectic along the following streams: modern jazz, film score, musique concrète and popular song.

Posi-tone Swingtet – Marc Free assembles players from the Posi-tone repertory theatre company of musicians to celebrate 25 years of making music.

Rob Luft – the award-winning 25-year-old jazz guitarist from London whose virtuosity has been compared to that of six-string legends John McLaughlin, Al Di Meola & Paco De Lucia returns with his second album as a leader.

Ximo Tebar’s latest project is a song to freedom and brotherhood among peoples, reflected in a project for a new approach to the big band . It fuses jazz with African dance and percussion in a return to the roots of “Groove”.

    • Daniel  Patrick , and Matthew   are part of the collective group Telepathic Band, also featuring bassist Hilliard Green and drummer Federico Ughi. They first met as a trio for an informal rehearsal, during which a completely out of tune piano was used. After listening back to the recording, the band was intrigued by the group sound and decided to pursue a proper studio session, although this time with one of the best, most impeccably tuned pianos in NYC.
    • Whoadie is slang for close friends. The word originates from New Orleans, Louisiana. As New Orleans is divided into wards, people from the same ward used to greet each other as “waaaar-day” which eventually turned into “whoadie.” . Daniel Carter suggested this title for this latest collaboration
