Federica Michisanti was born in Rome and is a bass and double bass player.
She studied at Università della Musica and St Louis College of Music in Rome, and was a participant of workshops in Siena Jazz and Città di Castello (with Miroslav Vitous).
She studied classical music with Maestro Andrea Pighi.
She won the Best New Talent award at the 2018 Top Jazz critics poll organized by Musica Jazz magazine. The previous year she was second in the 2017 Top Jazz New Talent category.
In September 2018 she was awarded with Siae Prize.
She writes music and in 2012 released her first album titled “Trioness”. A drum less trio with tenor sax and piano.
The second album “ISK” was released on January 2017 on Filibusta Records label, distributed in Japan by AlboreJazz. A drum less trio as well, with Matt Renzi from San Francisco playing tenor saxophone, bass clarinet, oboe and English horn and Simone Maggio on piano. In the March 2017 issue of the magazine MUSICA JAZZ “ISK” was recommended among the records of the month.
The trio played in Italian jazz festivals and clubs and at InJazz (Rotterdam), Hachen and Sopot jazz festival as well. The trio was a guest on the Radio Rai 3 two main broadcasts for live performances.
Since 2018 she has lead a new horn trio with Francesco Lento on trumpet and the Copenhagen based Francesco Bigoni on tenor sax and clarinet.
They released their first album in October 2018: SILENT RIDES_a suite for double bass and horns. All compositions by Federica.
In the November 2018 issue of the magazine MUSICA JAZZ “SILENT RIDES” as well was recommended among the records of the month.
She collaborates with Emanuele Maniscalco, with the English drummer Phelan Burgoyne, with Gianni Trovalusci, Greg Burk.
In Germany collaborated with the saxophonist Nicole Johanngten, with whom she has played in various festivals and jazz clubs between Switzerland and Germany. With the project “Sisters in Jazz”, which also includes the saxophonist / singer from New York Cammille Thurman, she played in between Poland and Ukraine (Jazz Bezz,Jazz UA and in the main jazz clubs).
In Poland she collaborates with the pianist Joachim Mencel
