Bij De Dieren Thuis

Recorded on 24 June 2016 at Theater de Cameleon, Amsterdam with Jan Nijdam double bass, Tobias Delius tenor saxophone, clarinet , Michiel Scheen piano and Alan Purves drums and released via Sollasiututut in 2017.

An interesting balance between written heads (all by Nijdam) , which are in themselves fairly wild, and vary between klezmer like fun, modal cosmic surfing, cool jazz, and bop riffing, and some pretty intense free improvisation and exploration. By keeping each piece relatively short the quartet offer a refreshing approach – 13 tracks in 57 minutes – which does not descend into noodling, allowing the listener to appreciate the interplay between the musicians.
